Since I was the only one that signed up, I had a one on one with the instructor, and it was very informative session. She explained everything in detail and gave some good examples of different portrait styles. She has a lot of patience and class was good.

I was able to learn what I needed to understand about my camera. The only thing was the class ended an hour earlier. I signed up for 3 hours and I just felt that even if the information was all taught . I felt that one hour is still one hour of being taught was cut short. Whether it was just two people in the class or 10. We sign up for a three hours of lessons. I guess my expectations were high.

So glad I took this class! I had a new camera that I really had no idea how to use. I learned the basics and now I love experimenting with the different settings.

I had noticed this beautiful bird visiting my backyard daily in the spring . I noticed it was drawn to one of the flowering trees I have in the backyard so I setup my camera on one of the days and was able to get several shots.

This photo was taken in July in Iceland where this species of purple flower is called lupin related to the Texas blue bonet. It was planted for soil erosion, but got invasive and widespread. The purple flower enhances the landscape photography like this one.

This Black Church of Budir is one of the most photographed churches located in Budir, Iceland on the southern side of Snaefellsness Pininsula. It goes back to the 18th century. The black church contrast with the blue sky, mountains, or the ocean depending which side you are looking from.

On my first ever visit to Laguna Vista Nature Walk looking to photograph a painted bunting during spring migration I saw this lone purple thistle amongst the flowers and thought it'd be a good composition. As I developed the photo I noticed a snail perched on a stem to the left, how wonderful!

Found this in my archives. It was taken about 25 years ago while touring the Shiloh Civil War Battlefield in Tennessee. The Battle of Shiloh took place in Hardin County Tennessee on April 6th and 7th, 1862.

People often wonder why I bring such a large lens to the Zoo. I used a Sony G lens with a focal length of 300-600mm for this shot. When I visit the San Diego Wild Animal Park in Escondido, my objective is to take pictures that don't feel like they were taken at the zoo. In this case, the close-up of the tiger does just that, and you are brought into his focus. You can feel the intensity of his stare!Never stop capturing the moments!

I am new to photography, and this was my very first attempt at a golden hour sunset photo. I had arrived plenty early to set up, but quickly got discouraged because I could not seem to get the exposure right when shooting into the sun. Just when I was ready to give up, the sun got low enough, and suddenly everything exploded with color. I was very happy with the photo at first, but now wish I had moved more to my left so I could cut the bridge out of the image. That white thing across the wa
