Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in McAllen .

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the McAllen Photography Group on Facebook to share your photos after the session.

Great class. Instructional and application aspect of the class was very informative! Overall course and instructor were awesome. Thx
Since I was the only one that signed up, I had a one on one with the instructor, and it was very informative session. She explained everything in detail and gave some good examples of different portrait styles. She has a lot of patience and class was good.
I was able to learn what I needed to understand about my camera. The only thing was the class ended an hour earlier. I signed up for 3 hours and I just felt that even if the information was all taught . I felt that one hour is still one hour of being taught was cut short. Whether it was just two people in the class or 10. We sign up for a three hours of lessons. I guess my expectations were high.

So glad I took this class! I had a new camera that I really had no idea how to use. I learned the basics and now I love experimenting with the different settings.
I love how it was a small class so I was able to get help and answers to questions.

Photo was taken at Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge in South Texas on the Refuge wetlands. It was early in the morning as this beautiful kestrel was perching on a dead tree limb in the middle of a wetland. I was able to get close enough to take this close up picture.

There?s a small pier overlooking a beautiful marsh on 35 going north to Port La Vaca. I stopped there to take some landscape pictures and didn?t notice the alligators nearby until after a while of snapping pictures.

As a deep space photographer, I like to take photos of outer space targets that our eyes cannot see. These photos require a lot of patience and a lot of clear nights reason why my telescopes are working almost every night when it isn't cloudy. Astrophotography is very different from all the other types of photography, a single photo sometimes requires tens of hours under the clear night sky but the result is very satisfying. In this photo, I would like to present to you the California Nebula

This is part of a huge street art display, a real gem in Leeds. I loved the different displays of hands walking, creates a real sense of movement and intrigue. Photo was taken around 11am. The light you see shining on the hand is from a wall light. Camera setting - F4.2, 1/400 shutter and ISO 200.
